About us

    Beijing Earthview Environment Education and Research Center is a non-profit and non-government organization registered at Beijing Civil Administration. Earthview promotes environmental education and research through collaboration with other organizations. Key technology partners are Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) and Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Earthview's mission is to

·  Promote share of environmental education resources, and
·  Increase public awareness of environmental protection, by introducing high quality international environmental television programs and other environmental education resources to the Chinese government, environmental protection agencies, research institutions, media workers, colleges and universities, grade schools, NGOs, communities, families, and individuals.

Our work also includes foreign language translations into Chinese and establishment of a knowledge and resource bank for environmental education programs and materials. By December 2002, Earthview had a collection of more than 800 international and domestic television programs, videotapes, and VCDs in following categories:

·  General public education on environment protection
·  Pollution control and treatment
·  International environmental overview
·  Wild life protection
·  Natural resource utilization
·  Children's and Women's rights
·  AIDS
·  General public advertisement
·  And others…

Beijing Earthview Environment Education and Research Center has been growing to become China's largest environmental education video library, most frequently visited by the public the organization is designed to serve. Hundreds of public visits are made to the library each year and many thousands of videos are borrowed free of charge. Our videos are mostly rented to schools, non-government environmental protection organizations, community educators, media, and research institutions.
